Our office is on Hurontario Street and you are welcome to come to it, which makes Mississauga the one city where this conversation can happen across a table. An interior design specification consultant in Mississauga is not the same thing as a furniture store, though, and the difference shows up early: we start with your drawings, your budget and your programme, not with a floor of sofas you are meant to like. Then we work out which of the twenty three Italian and European brands we represent can actually answer the specification.
We turn a design intent into products that exist, can be bought, and will arrive on time. That means selecting from the brands we represent, supplying manufacturer technical data, pricing in Canadian dollars, and coordinating the import and the delivery.
Most specification problems are not taste problems. They are availability problems, dimension problems and lead-time problems, and they surface late, usually once a client has already fallen for something. Bringing a consultant in early is mostly about finding those while they are still cheap to fix.
The work splits into four parts. A project can use one of them or all four.
| Stage | What happens | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Briefing | We work through drawings, room functions, budget bands and timing. | A shortlist of brands and product types that fit the brief. |
| Selection | Options are narrowed against dimensions, finishes and daily use. | Product references, finish options and sample requests. |
| Documentation | Technical data is pulled from the manufacturer for each item. | Dimensions, materials, pre-installation and care data. |
| Procurement | The order is placed, tracked and coordinated into Canada. | CAD pricing, order confirmation and delivery coordination. |
Yes, and that is the arrangement we prefer. The designer keeps the design and the client relationship. We supply product knowledge, technical documents, pricing and import coordination, so the studio is not running a European supply chain on the side.
A studio in Mississauga that wants a particular Italian upholstery line has two poor options: buy retail and lose the margin, or open a direct account with a manufacturer in Italy and inherit the freight, the customs paperwork and the aftercare. Neither is a good use of a design practice.
What we do instead:
Attend briefings with your team, or work from your drawings if you would rather we stayed in the background.
Quote to the studio so the studio quotes the client, which keeps your commercial relationship intact.
Supply manufacturer technical data rather than marketing copy, so it can go straight into a specification package.
Handle the manufacturer correspondence, including the parts of it that happen in Italian.
Stay reachable after delivery for replacement parts and finish queries.
The full trade offer is set out on our page for professionals and retailers, which covers the same ground for studios anywhere in Canada.
Samples are requested from the manufacturer for the specific finishes under consideration, not sent as a generic kit. Technical documents come from the manufacturer directly, so dimensions, materials and pre-installation requirements match what will actually be delivered.
Finish decisions made from a screen get revisited. That is not a criticism of anyone, it is just what happens when a leather or a stone is rendered rather than held. So the sample stage is the one place we slow a project down on purpose.
Samples can be couriered to you, or laid out at our Mississauga office on Hurontario Street if you would rather go through a full finish range in one sitting. Book ahead either way, so the references you want to see are actually in the building.
You shortlist finishes from the catalogues for the brands in play.
We request those specific references from the manufacturer.
Samples are reviewed against the room, ideally in its own light rather than in an office.
The approved reference is recorded against the item before anything is ordered.
Every brand we represent publishes its catalogues on its own page, and each one opens in a page-turning viewer instead of downloading a hundred megabytes first. Start from the brand catalogue if you would rather browse before you call.
Ten categories, covering furniture, lighting, sanitaryware, bathroom furniture, wellness and spa systems, tiles and slabs, doors and wall panelling, wallpaper and rugs, office furniture, and original art. Each one is supplied by the Italian and European manufacturers we represent in Canada.
Categories matter more than brand names at the start of a project. Clients rarely ask for a specific Italian manufacturer. They ask whether the doors can be full height, whether the vanity can be made 1,340mm wide, or whether the slab can run up the wall behind the bath.
We track the order with the manufacturer, coordinate freight into Canada, manage the customs paperwork and arrange delivery to site or to storage. You get an update at each handover rather than silence between order and arrival.
Import coordination is the part clients underestimate and the part that goes wrong most often when nobody owns it. Made-to-order European furniture is produced after the order, then shipped, cleared and delivered, and every one of those handovers is somewhere a project can quietly lose weeks.
We will not publish a lead time in days here. It depends on the manufacturer, the finish and the time of year, and a number on a web page is not something anyone should plan a site around. What we will do is give you the manufacturer’s current stated lead time for your actual selection, before you commit to it.
Sofas, armchairs, dining and bedroom furniture from Italian manufacturers we represent in Canada. Every brand below ships to Canadian residential, hospitality and commercial projects, with specification and import coordination handled by La Firma Casa.
Interior doors, glass partitions and wall paneling systems from Italian manufacturers we represent in Canada. Bespoke sizes, finishes and hardware are configured per project, with technical drawings supplied for site coordination.
Marble and natural stone slabs, mosaic, and engineered and solid wood flooring from Italian suppliers we represent in Canada. Slab availability, finishes and samples can be requested for a specific project.
Vanity units, storage and coordinated bathroom furniture from the Italian and Spanish manufacturers we represent in Canada. Finish ranges and configurations are made to order, so options can be matched to a specific project.
A shortlist, not the whole portfolio. We represent 23 Italian and European manufacturers, and the right one depends on the drawing rather than on the list.
Tell us the project type, the product categories you need and your timing. We will come back with a shortlist, manufacturer technical data and pricing in Canadian dollars. If a specification is already written, send it and we will review it.
